 11th EDITION – 2021
FOR YOUNG CONDUCTORS ON THE ITALIAN OPERA REPERTOIRE
During “Parma Italian Capital of Culture 2020+21” the Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition gets a face-lift, calling on Italian opera: the winner of the competition will be selected by an international jury, composed by General Managers and Artistic Directors of some of the most important Opera Houses of the world. Additionally, some the highest ranked Italian Opera Theatres and Festivals, will offer other awards in form of engagements.

SCHEDULE
Workshop
Two weeks of intensive and preparatory study for the competition, with great orchestra conductors, singers, pianists, vocal coaches, musicologists, composers and artistic directors.
Eliminatory
The competition starts: the 12 candidates will be involved in rehearsing and conducting, choral and symphonic pieces, with singers and choir, both with piano and orchestra. Only 6 candidates will move to the next phase.
Semifinals
6 candidates will be involved in rehearsing and conducting a Rossini's sextet, a Mozart’s recitativo, symphonies and opera duets. Only 3 candidates will enter the final.
Final
The winner will be declared during a concert open to the public, at the Teatro Regio in Parma, consisting in the performance of a Rossini duet and of a complete Verdi opera.
